We will be working on learning how to develop our reading skills and show our thinking together through teacher modelling of the activity with the first story then you will be expected to complete an annotation on your own with the second story.
Thank you to http://zombiestories.wordpress.com/page/9/ for the stories I have used for this activity.

Demonstrate that you know how to do the following tasks as you read by annotating (recording your thoughts) on the stories.
1 Question - Ask yourself what else you need to know
2 Define - Choose a word or phrase or concept that you think may be important to the text or that you did not understand and find the definition for it.
What do you know / understand now about the story that you did not before?
3 Visualize - What appealed to your 5 senses the most (taste, touch, smell, sight or hearing)
4 Predict - Based on evidence from the text what do you think has hapened or will happen?
5 Connect - How does this connect to something you are familiar with? (in your life, in the world around you, or something you read about earlier in the same book)
6 Synthesis / Determining importance - Use evidence from the text to identify the main message (theme) of the author and to summarize what the story was about.
